On December 27th at the age of 83, a great inspiration to me passed away. A founder of the school of colour field painting, an integral member of the mid century abstract expressionist New York art community, partner to the hugely influential painter and printmaker Robert Motherwell, and lover of paint just as it is, Helen Frankenthaler was truly awesome.
